Harrowing video shows man threatening Washington Tavern patrons with loaded gun

ALBANY — The Albany County District Attorney’s Office has released video from Feb. 8 in which a man terrorized the patrons of  Washington Tavern with a loaded handgun and held the weapon to a young woman’s head.

Prosecutors have said Hector Gomez, 41, threatened to “kill everyone in here” as he waved a 9mm pistol around the venerable Western Avenue watering hole, which has been popular with generations of University at Albany students. Across the three videos, which do not include audio, Gomez can first be seen fighting with patrons at the bar while patrons move to the front of the establishment to get out of his way. Gomez then points the weapon at one man, who puts his hands up.

Gomez then moves to the front area where people had retreated and retrieves a jacket. He then spots one young woman leaning against a wall by herself. He points the gun directly at her temple and shouts something before exiting the frame. The woman slides down the wall in shock as another female patron tends to her…
