Albany pair arrested for allegedly abandoning dog, six puppies in Menands

Two people from Albany have been arrested after police said they abandoned six puppies and left an adult dog tied to a bench in Menands.

The dogs were found on Sept. 30 in the area of 85 Broadway without food, water or shelter, Menands Police said.

The investigation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Jonathan Lugo and 46-year-old Silva Freeland. They were charged with eight counts of torturing or injuring animals, seven counts of abandonment and one count of conspiracy. They are scheduled to be arraigned in Colonie Town Court on Oct. 8…
