Albany launches 2025 Cash for Coats Drive

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The 2025 Cash for Coats Drive in Albany has begun. The city is collecting cash donations to purchase new winter clothing for school children in need.

Over the years, the Cash for Coats program has distributed over 15,000 new winter coats and tens of thousands new winter accessories. Officials said the program ensures all local students can stay warm and focused on learning throughout the colder months.

“The impact, we know, goes beyond warmth,” Albany City School District Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter said. “A coat means the difference between a child staying home and walking confidently to our school on the coldest of days in the winter. We continue to see increased attendance in all our schools, a decrease in chronic absenteeism, and what that means is an increase in graduation rate.

Donations can be made online from now through Nov. 7…
