HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A recent crime ring has been making its way around the Northeast and targeting customers of fitness centers and yoga studios, leaving many with their valuables taken.
On October 1, three women were attending a class at Lumberjack Athletics in Sheffield. After the class, they noticed some belongings were stolen from their cars. NEWS10’s Tyanna Xavier got in contact with the owner of the facility, Leon Uptegrove, who runs the Sheffield and Hudson, NY locations.
“I had immediately got a phone call when it all took place or text message. And right around 7:38 in the morning, I believe it was, we had seen a car through some footage take off and it was a white, I think, Jeep Cherokee Liberty and we don’t know that car. So, the footage showed that that they were leaving and three of our athletes had some type of vandalism happen,” said Uptegrove.

Two of the athletes had purses taken and then one of them had a large sum of money that was taken as well. Uptegrove believes the thieves decided to make their move because that class was in session. Pittsfield Police say the same thing happened at a yoga studio in Pittsfield. The next day one of the athletes’ banks contacted them about some suspicious activity…
