Prosecutors wrapping up case in trial of man who allegedly struck UAlbany student with dirt bike

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) — Prosecutors are expected to wrap up their case against the Watervliet man accused of hitting a UAlbany student with his dirt bike and leaving the scene.

Austin Breyette is facing charges of second-degree assault, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and tampering with physical evidence. He struck Alexa Kropf with his dirt bike on Hudson Avenue in April 2024.

Kropf took the stand on Wednesday and testified about her injuries and recovery. On cross-examination, Breyette’s defense attorney asked questions about Kropf being in the roadway. The defense claims that Breyette was trying to avoid someone crossing the street when Kropf went into the road…
