UAlbany settles discrimination lawsuit with former professor

ALBANY — The state University at Albany will pay $40,000 to Dr. Kamiar Alaei, a former lecturer and professor, to settle a federal lawsuit.

Alaei sued the university in 2021, nearly three years after the school declined to renew his appointment after levying a number of allegations against him, including sexual misconduct against an intern. In a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, Alaei alleged the school and several high-ranking university officialsdiscriminated against him under Title IX and violated his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
