‘Bishop Mark’ to take over as head of Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – Bishop-elect Mark O’Connell said he felt a great deal of joy as he plans to take over leadership of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.

O’Connell will succeed Bishop Edward Scharfenberger. His installation will take place on Dec. 5, according to the Diocese.

O’Connell comes to Albany after having served as auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Boston since 2016…
