Police call Albany fire that killed 5 ‘suspicious’

ALBANY — Albany’s deadliest fire in more than a decade has been deemed “suspicious in nature” after a preliminary investigation by city police, the Albany Police Department announced Tuesday.

The investigation into the Twiller Street fire earlier this month, which killed five people, is now being turned over to the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, Albany police said in a news release.

Police have not said if they have identified a suspect and no arrests have been made. It’s unclear what factors prompted police to determine this fire was suspicious…
