CDTA to implement service changes effective November 30

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Starting November 30, the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will be implementing service changes for many routes in the Capital Region. According to the CDTA, the changes include reducing or eliminating bus routes.

The CDTA said the changes are intended to make the system more reliable and sustainable. “CDTA is currently going through a service rebalancing, taking a critical look at the system, and focusing on optimizing it,” the announcement said. “These changes reflect that.”

Changes:

Service updates:

  • Route #18 (Delaware Avenue) – Weekday mid-day frequency and Saturday frequency will be reduced.
  • Route #22 (Albany – Troy via Watervliet) – Frequency will be reduced.
  • Route #100 (Mid City Belt) – Frequency will be reduced in an effort to improve route reliability.
  • Route #106 (Uptown Belt) – Frequency will be reduced in an effort to improve route reliability.
  • Route #560 (Thruway Express) – There will now be three morning trips and three evening trips.
  • Route #605 (Amsterdam to Schenectady via VIA|Port) – Route will now run on weekdays to replace the #354 and #602.
  • Route #713 (Saratoga Springs – Glens Falls) – Frequency will be reduced in an effort to improve route reliability.
  • Route #737 (Corporate Woods – Airport) – Six weekday trips will be eliminated.
  • Route #808 (Albany-North Greenbush Shuttle) – Route will no longer enter Stuyvesant Plaza. Stop will be relocated to Western Ave & Fuller Rd.
  • Route #910 (Purple Line BRT) – Route will now stop on Western Avenue at Colonial Avenue (eastbound) / Eileen Street (westbound), and on the Harriman Campus near State Campus Rd.
  • Routes #922 and #923 (Blue Line BRT) – Weekday and Saturday frequency will be reduced.

FLEX Services:

  • Route #451 (Ballston Avenue/W. Saratoga via East Ave & Lake Ave) – This route will no longer be in service. Customers will have access to FLEX On Demand.
  • Route #452 (Skidmore College/Downtown Saratoga) – This route will no longer be in service, except for late night Skidmore service on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Customers will have access to FLEX On Demand.

Eliminated Services:

  • Route #190 (Fuller Rd – Wolf Road) – This route will no longer be in service.
  • Route #352 (McClellan Street – Altamont Ave.) – This route will no longer be in service.
  • Route #354 (Rotterdam Square Mall – Nott Street) – This route will no longer be in service. Customers will now have access to Route #605 on weekdays.
  • Route #602 (Amsterdam to Schenectady) – This route will no longer be in service. Customers will now have access to Route #605 on weekdays.

The changes come two months after the CDTA launched a service from Glens Falls to Saratoga Springs. The route, #713, is included in the upcoming schedule changes.
