ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Advocates and family members rallied together on Monday in Albany to push for a law that they said will save children’s lives. The law, called Kyra’s Law hopes to prioritize child safety in custody cases but they need Governor Kathy Hochul’s help.

For the last five years, family members and advocates have gathered together on the 27th of each month to push for Governor Hochul to put Kyra’s Law into her 2027 Executive Budget. The 27th day of the month marks the anniversary of when two-year-old Kyra Franchetti was killed by her father in Virginia.
Kyra Franchetti and her mom Jacqueline lived on Long Island, but Kyra was on a court-mandated visit to her dad in Virginia when he killed her in 2016.
