Food donations for federal workers at Albany Airport

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) –Another food distribution happened at Albany International Airport (ALB) for federal workers on Thursday. This time, 8,500 pounds of food were brought in by the Regional Food Bank and its partners.

Federal workers at ALB missed their first paychecks and there’s not a definite day when these essential employees will get what they’ve earned. TSA reported that its staff has better attendance now than before the government shutdown.

Officials said other airports across the country aren’t as fortunate. “So I want to have a big shoutout to all the federal workers for doing the job without getting paid,” said Peter Stuto with the airport to applause.

Planes are still landing and departing at ALB. And because of that, free food is available to people who generally don’t have to think about where they’re getting their next meal.
