MILTON — The town’s highway superintendent, who is facing a felony assault charge after he allegedly pushed a man to the ground outside the Whitehouse Restaurant and Bar, resigned from office more than a month ago.David Forbes retired effective Sept. 25 and the Town Board accepted his resignation at a special meeting on Sept. 30, Town Board minutes show.
Supervisor Scott Ostrander said he learned that Forbes was to retire after receiving paperwork from the state. Forbes departed with more than two years left on his four-year term and, Ostrander said, he did not discuss his reason for retiring early.
Ostrander said Forbes’ deputy, Jason Miller, is running the department in his absence. He also said the town will not hold a special election and will leave the position vacant until the end of 2027…
