ALBANY — The University at Albany plans to buy the former College of Saint Rose’s Centennial Hall dormitory from the Pine Hills Land Authority for $12 million.
The move will give the university flexibility amid high demand from students interested in apartment-style housing and covers more than a third of the purchase price that the Albany County authority paid for the defunct college’s campus.
Todd Foreman, the school’s vice-president for finance and administration, said for the last several years the university has been at over 100% occupancy for student housing, with some students living three to a room.
