Police: Albany officer aids choking infant at home on Leonard Place

ALBANY — A city police officer was able to help a choking infant Thursday at a home on Leonard Place, police said.

Officers responded around 7:40 p.m. after the 9-month-old started choking on food and was unresponsive, Albany police said. When one officer found the baby wasn’t breathing, he took action.

“Officer Fitzgerald administered several back blows, successfully dislodging the food and the baby began breathing again,” police said in a news release…
