November’s nights to feature ‘fireball’ meteors and year’s brightest supermoon

Keep your eyes on the November night skies because they will host three meteor showers, a “Super Beaver Moon,” and a micromoon.

The good news is that no telescope is required to enjoy these spectacles in the sky. However, we need the weather to cooperate in order to catch a glimpse of these events.

Taurid meteor shower battles the year’s brightest supermoon

Not just one, but three meteor showers will light up the skies over New York this month. There will be opportunities to see the Orionids, Leonids, and Taurids during November.

The best of the bunch should be the Taurids, which peak tonight.

“Taurid meteors tend to be larger than the norm, which means they are bright, many being fireballs,” notes NASA. “They also penetrate deeper into Earth’s atmosphere than many other shower meteors.”…
