ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany man pleaded not guilty to drug and weapon charges in Albany County Court on Wednesday. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Kavon Lucas, 33, is facing second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges.

Lucas was arrested, alongside five other people, on September 16, around 6 p.m., on Columbia Street near North Pearl Street. The DA’s office said a search warrant was being conducted by the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit on September 16, and law enforcement allegedly found a 9mm pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition loaded and fentanyl.
Court officials said the five other people who were arrested were also charged with drug offenses. The DA’s office stated Lucas remains in Albany County Jail without bail.
