Albany man accused of having loaded handgun

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany man was arrested on Monday for alleged handgun possession. Ronald Stewart, 39, was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Deputies with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near Central Avenue and Manning Square in Albany on Monday morning when they found that the operator, identified as Stewart, had a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a defaced serial number. Law enforcement also reported finding 14.5 grams of crack cocaine with a digital scale and plastic bags and found that the drugs were intended for distribution.

Stewart was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Monday.
