Cohoes man charged with murder of girlfriend offered plea deal

ALBANY — Anthony Bechand, the 53-year-old Cohoes man charged with the murder of his 41-year-old girlfriend Amanda Rodriguez in September following a nearly two-week-long manhunt, has been offered a plea deal from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

The plea deal, put on the record Friday, would require Bechand to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for an indeterminate prison sentence of 20 years to life, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Bechand is being represented by attorney Jonathan Stroble, an assistant public defender. The public defenders’ office could not be immediately reached for comment Saturday…
