Albany Police Department welcomes new therapy dog

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Albany Police Department has welcomed a new member! O’Shea, a Labrador Retriever, will work as the agency’s newest therapy dog.

Trained at The Seeing Eye, Inc., 18-month-old O’Shea will reportedly provide emotional support to staff members as well as to the community. Officials hope his support will not only improve the mental health of anyone who may need a visit but also foster a positive relationship between the police and the public.

“Having therapy dogs has helped reduce stress and can help our officers decompress after high-stress and traumatic incidents,” the department said…
