Melodies Center in Albany receives $1.8M donation

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany Medical Center announced that their Melodies Center for youth received a $1.8 million donation on Monday from the Nicholas T. Mancinelli Family Trust. The center specializes in care for children and teens with cancer and blood disorders.

The Melodies Center provides treatment for over 1,500 pediatric patients every year. According to the organization, Mancinelli wanted to leave behind a legacy that would benefit local children and families in need of support.

“The generosity of Nicholas Mancinelli will have a lasting impact on the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders, empowering our team to continue providing the highest level of care for our precious patients,” said Albany Med Health System President and CEO Dennis McKenna, MD. “As the only provider of specialized care for children and teens with cancer and blood disorders in the Capital Region, we are deeply grateful for Mr. Mancinelli’s belief in our mission, and we will proudly carry on his legacy through our care.”

Mancinelli’s godson, John Favreau, attended a ceremony for the donation on November 17 alongside officials at the Albany hospital.
