Berkshire County DA seizes nearly 2K grams of drugs in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Berkshire County District Attorney’s office announced the arrest of nine people connected to a drug trafficking ring in Pittsfield. Getting drugs off the street is one main piece of the puzzle that local community groups are also trying to tackle in the city.

“Today is another example of what we can do, when we work together,” said Pittsfield Mayor Peter Marchetti.

Berkshire County District Attorney Timothy Shugrue said this six-month-long investigation and drug bust operation has now been successfully completed. Authorities arrested nine people from different areas of Pittsfield who were allegedly involved in dealing drugs. Shugrue said drug trafficking is linked to many instances of violence that occur in Pittsfield — making this operation even more important.

“The investigation and operation resulted in the seizure of 911 grams of heroin with an approximate street value of $75-90,000,” said Shugrue. 1,004 grams of cocaine with an approximate street value of $80-104,000 and 68 pills that are currently being tested in a lab.”…
