Officers responded to the Victorian Motel on Columbia Turnpike in Schodack around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, after receiving a report of a structure fire, according to Schodack Police. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke pouring from the second floor.
Investigators determined the fire began inside Room 6, where the occupant — identified as Jacob Ruth, of Rensselaer — was already outside when officers arrived, police said.
