Second-degree murder charges expected for 2024 Menands bike trail death court case

An arrest has been made in connection with the murder of veteran Daniel Frament, who was killed on the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail. Sources close to the case revealed that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed due to a sealed indictment, is scheduled to appear in Albany County Court on Monday morning. The court calendar indicates that the arraignment involves a charge of second-degree murder.

Sam Chiappone, a lifelong neighbor of Frament, described him as “a free-spirited guy,” recalling their neighborly exchanges.

“I would shovel his sidewalk in the winter. He mowed my grass in the summer. Just a great neighbor to be around and a great person in general to talk to,” Chiappone said…
