Capital City Rescue Mission provides Thanksgiving baskets to hundreds

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Capital City Rescue Mission handed out Thanksgiving baskets to the community on Monday morning. The need is high this year. More people signed up than what volunteers originally had prepared for.

More than 400 bundles of food were put together with turkeys, fruit, vegetables, pies and more. Each basket feeds a family of five.

The mission gave members of its New Life program the opportunity to volunteer. Some called those in need part of their family.

“Everyone that comes through here is obviously experiencing hardship in their lives,” Cody Francis with the New Life program said. “Paying for the opportunity to enjoy the fruits that life has to offer provides meaning for me.”…
