CAIRO — The search for Roger Pitt began as a missing persons case last week in Cairo. But the story police were told did not match the evidence they began to gather.
As the inconsistencies grew, so did the scope of the investigation, eventually leading investigators back to Pitt’s own property. There, Greene County sheriff’s deputies uncovered human remains that led to a cascade of criminal charges against the very people who had reported Pitt missing.
