A traffic stop ended with the arrest of a driver who fled troopers on foot while tossing a loaded handgun into the grass, New York State Police announced on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
Jubbar K. Singleton, 53, of Amsterdam, was arrested after troopers tried to pull over his vehicle for a traffic violation near Lafayette Street in Schenectady, at about 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, according to the release. The vehicle fled and was later found unoccupied near Erie Boulevard with help from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
Singleton was seen a short time later returning to the vehicle and trying to get into the driver’s seat, troopers detailed. When they approached him, he allegedly ran off and was seen throwing a loaded, illegally possessed handgun into a nearby grassy area…
