VOORHEESVILLE — Mayor Richard Straut says he was completely taken by surprise when he began hearing rumors over the summer that Norfolk Southern Corp. was planning to build a crew-changing station on tracks being reactivated for a new route to Worcester, Mass.
That was news to Straut, who signed a 2021 agreement with the railroad designed to mitigate the village’s concern over Norfolk Southern running trains through the village after decades of inactivity.
