Cost-burdened residents, vacant units, lack of projects, creating Albany housing crisis

On Wednesday, in her current role as Albany Chief City Auditor, Dorcey Applyrs presented a 10-year analysis of Albany’s housing challenges.

“If we do not address the unique challenges that the city has when relates to housing, I firmly believe the levees will break,” Applyrs, who says the City is experiencing a housing crisis, said.

The audit detailed the issues being faced by residents, organizations, developers and elected officials, and provides a tool for Applyrs, as Mayor-Elect, to utilize when she takes office in January…
