ALBANY — On Wednesday, the former College of Saint Rose looked lovely and cared for. The campus was coated with freshly fallen snow, and yet its walkways, sidewalks and parking lots were nicely cleared and salted.
If you didn’t know better, you might think the campus was still a functioning school, albeit one where the students and faculty were away on an extended Thanksgiving vacation. You wouldn’t necessarily know that Saint Rose shuttered 18 months ago, judging by appearances.
For that, we have County Executive Dan McCoy to thank. He’s the one who stepped up to take responsibility for the property key to Albany’s future, given its location in the heart of the city.
