Dorcey Applyrs says Brendan Cox will stay on as Albany’s police chief

ALBANY — Interim police Chief Brendan Cox is staying on to lead the city’s police department, Dorcey Applyrs announced Thursday.

The mayor-elect said Cox, who retired as police chief in 2017 before returning last year, would be appointed to a permanent role when she starts her term as city mayor in January.
