BOSTON (NEWS10) — Back in late September, Schenectady native and boxer Jahyae Brown vowed to win the WBC Interim Silver Super Welterweight Championship for his father, Johnny, who had recently been hospitalized due to a stroke. Brown delivered on his promise, defeating Gabriel Escalante by unanimous decision.

Brown then brought his championship belt to the hospital to celebrate what would sadly be the final victory he and his father could share together.
Johnny Brown passed away on Nov. 21 due to complications from his stroke. Just two days before the funeral services on Dec. 15, Jahyae Brown will courageously step into the ring for his first bout since that late-September triumph over Escalante.
Brown will put his 18-2 career record and five-fight win streak on the line against Michael Ogundo – a veteran boxer with a career record of 17-16. The two will square off Saturday as the main event of ‘Rumble at Royale 6: ‘Twas the Fight Before Christmas’ at Royale Nightclub in Boston…
