Law enforcement said on Thursday that the white pit bull was found by a man walking his dog. The man heard barking, and his dog led him towards the abandoned pup, authorities reported.

Police freed the dog from the tree using bolt cutters, and it is being cared for at the Montgomery SPCA. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Amsterdam Police Department at (518) 842-1100, and police said all calls will be kept confidential.
