ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Albany City School District is hoping to tackle food insecurity by expanding the food pantry at the high school. Inside, you’ll see shelves stocked just like a grocery store.
The pantry includes canned goods, toiletries, fresh produce, and meat. After students pick out their items, they’ll be able to check out and take their food home.

District leaders said they were happy to give students the option to pick out whatever products they like and break some of the stigma surrounding food pantries.
“When students are coming to school hungry, they can’t concentrate, and they can’t learn,” Albany Fund for Education Exec. Dir. Mari Shopsis said. “Our mission at the Albany Fund for Education is to enhance opportunities for students to learn, grow and succeed.”…
