Guilty plea in fatal Schenectady shooting

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A man is being sent to prison after pleading guilty to a fatal shooting. Cecil Toland, 20, pleaded guilty Monday to murder in the second degree.

The charge comes from the April shooting death of Wilfredo Vasquez. He was shot while outside a bodega on Van Vranken Avenue in the city of Schenectady.

Prosecutors said Toland shot Vasquez after the two had a verbal fight two weeks prior. Toland fled to New York City but returned to Schenectady days later and turned himself in to police…
