Powerful winds to hit upstate, potentially causing power outages

Winds powerful enough to toss around loose objects and bring down tree limbs could cause pockets of power outages when it sweeps into the region on Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Albany issued an urgent message about the weather expected to hit a broad swath of upstate New York and New England by evening. The winds are expected to hit across a wide portion of eastern New York, including the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley.
