Hudson man appeals attempted murder conviction

HUDSON — Orlando Williams’ attorney has filed an appeal to overturn his conviction for attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend last year in Hudson.

The attorney, Mark Portin, told the Times Union that he filed the appeal last week, after Williams was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Portin said that Williams’ convictions for attempted murder, unlawful imprisonment and strangulation were “not supported by evidence.”

According to court testimony from the ex-girlfriend, Williams, 55, of Hudson, attacked her in March 2024 by surprising her on her Hudson porch, placing his hand over her mouth and dragging her to a nearby wooded area, where he held her down, choked her and attempted to stab her with a knife…
