How To Properly Park at Crossgates Mall

Crossgates Mall in Guilderland, New York has been a part of the Capital Region for over 40 years. Everyone has been there at least once during the holidays at this time, and yet, people still have a hard time figuring out the one way traffic lanes and how to properly park. Allow me to clear all of this up for you.

How To Park at Crossgates

I realize that the lines are not perfect at Crossgates and they probably need to be refreshed and painted again to make things easier. However, we’ve all been doing this for a very long time so I am confused where this confusion comes from when pulling into the lanes. The cars that are already there are all parked in a certain way. If you pull in and you can’t just pull right into the spot, you’re going the wrong direction. Quickly correct yourself before you cause a parking lot incident.

What about backing into the spot?

While angle parking on streets is designed for backing into the make it safer to pull out, in parking lots it is not the design. From Google:

Diagonal parking spaces, especially in parking lots, are generally meant for drivers to pull straight in (front-first), making it easier to see traffic when backing out…

I don’t know why I have to look that up for you guys because it seems pretty basic, but there you go. So no argument from the “I back into the spot because it’s easier” people. Just sit yourselves down and start parking like a normal person…
