Albany declares December 22 as Greg Floyd Day

Albany, NY (WRGB) — Albany is honoring CBS6’s and longtime Capital Region journalist Greg Floyd with an official proclamation recognizing his decades of service to the community.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan declared Monday, December 22, 2025, as “Greg Floyd Day” in the City of Albany, marking Floyd’s final sign-off on CBS6 before his retirement.

Floyd began his journalism career in 1979, starting as an intern before going on to work at several local news outlets, including WENT radio, WTEN, FOX23, and WRNN. He later returned to CBS6, where he built a storied career covering the Capital Region.

Throughout his career, Floyd’s reporting extended well beyond local news. His assignments took him around the world, including coverage of Operation Desert Shield in 1990 and the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997, both overseas…
