Executive chef Max Ansong directs everyone in the kitchen and feeds the volunteers breakfast. Monday began with celery and onions. “We go through about three or four boxes of celery at Thanksgiving so we’ll put on an additional one or two to that,” described Bruce Herron, a volunteer. “24 pans of stuffing at Thanksgiving and we’re gonna do 30 for Christmas.” Following that will be almost 1,000 pounds of ham.

Shelly Wood helped plan the Christmas celebration for anyone in need or without family to spend the holiday with. “Chapel is at 11 o’clock and they can hear the word of God and there’s a hot meal at noon.” She added that free holiday gifts will also be available from noon until 2 p.m.

“Each family can probably do two gifts or three gifts or five gifts. So the head of the household would come. Sometimes there’s kids here also waiting in line.” Donors can bring in any toys up until Christmas Day. For anyone looking to attend chapel, receive free food and/or get gifts, they can stay or leave for whatever they would like.
