Coxsackie-Athens Cancels Classes After Surge in Student Illness

One-Day Closure at CACSD

The Coxsackie-Athens Central School District announced a one-day school closure due to a sharp increase in illness across its buildings.

In a message posted to the district’s Facebook page, officials said schools will be closed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, citing widespread reports of flu-like symptoms, fever, and a stomach bug among students and staff.

According to the Facebook page, the school reported that more than one-fifth of the district’s student body is absent, prompting administrators to take what they describe as a proactive step to protect the health and well-being of students, families, and staff. Parents and guardians are encouraged to check their email for additional information from the district.
