ALBANY — New York State Police Troop G has a new leader.
Superintendent Steven G. James appointed Major Robert J. McConnell Jr. as the 40th commander of Troop G, headquartered in Latham. McConnell previously served as captain of the Troop G Bureau of Criminal Investigation,
He entered the New York State Police Academy on Feb. 14, 2005, and upon graduation, was assigned to the Troop F Catskill station. In 2010, he was promoted to sergeant also assigned to Catskill.
