Snow emergencies declared around the Capital Region

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — With a post-Christmas snowstorm on its way, multiple towns, cities, and villages are declaring local snow emergencies. Meteorologist Matt Mackie said Friday morning that the region could see up to 6 inches or more of snow during the evening and overnight hours into Saturday morning.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam officials issued a snow emergency through 10 a.m. on Saturday. All vehicles must be moved from city streets during the emergency, and any vehicle violating the parking ban is subject to towing. Below are city-owned parking lots where parking will be available.

  • Post Office lot
  • Guy Park Avenue Ext. (Kirk Douglas parking)
  • Golf Course lot
  • Vet’s Field (upper field along Locust Avenue, Roosevelt Road, and the road to the pool building)
  • Morris Street parking lot
  • East Main & DeGraff (left side only)
  • 27 Lefferts St. lot
  • Eagle and East Main Street (lot)
  • Dean and East Main Streets (lot)
  • 47 Reid St. lot
  • Milton Avenue (between 1st and 2nd Avenue)
  • Prospect Street (Upper, near Elizabeth Street)
  • Chestnut and Lincoln (basketball court lot)
  • Bunn and Thomas Street (lot)
  • Greene and Mechanic Street (lot)
  • Union and Orange Street (lot)
  • Union Street (between Brandt and McDonnell lot)
  • Clinton and Division Street (lot)
  • Bridge Street (lot)
  • 197 Florida Ave. (lot)
  • Pedestrian Bridge lot
  • Church Street and Willow Street (Park and Ride lot)
  • Brookside Avenue (old Eddie Brush Building, across from Hempton)

Catskill

The village of Catskill’s snow emergency begins Friday at 8 p.m. and will remain in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Vehicles should park on the odd side of village streets as the village participates in its alternating parking schedule until the snow emergency is cancelled.

No parking is allowed on Main Street from Greene Street to Summit Avenue from 11 p.m. through 8 a.m. until the emergency is cancelled. Any vehicle violating the parking ban will be ticketed and towed.

East Greenbush

A snow emergency will remain in place for the East Greenbush community from 8 p.m. on Friday through noon on Saturday. No parking is allowed on public roads; anyone violating the parking ban will be ticketed and towed.

Menands

Menands’ snow emergency will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and remain in effect until noon on Sunday, December 28. Vehicles must stay off village streets until the emergency is lifted; anyone violating the parking ban will be ticketed and towed. Anyone needing off-street parking can park at the Menands Public Library, Ganser Smith Park, or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society’s upper parking lot on N. Pearl Street.
