AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Amsterdam Police (APD) made an arrest on Thursday morning amid a theft investigation. Jeremy Suriel, 22, of Amsterdam, faces multiple charges.

On January 1 just after 3 a.m., police responded to Trinity Place after receiving reports of someone trying to access multiple parked cars in the area. Officers were able to follow footprints in the snow leading away from several vehicles and found Suriel in the vicinity, leading to him being taken into custody.
According to APD, Suriel is accused of stealing items from unlocked cars in the area. He was charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny before being released. He’s expected to appear in Amsterdam City Court at a later date.
