HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hoosick Falls Police announced that an arrest was made earlier this week following an assault investigation. Shapiro Wyer, 33, of Hoosick Falls, faces several charges.

On December 29 just before 7:40 p.m., officers responded to a home on Mechanic Street after receiving reports of a domestic dispute. Police determined that Wyer allegedly attacked another man living at the residence amid an altercation, reportedly choking the victim during the fight.
Emergency medical personnel treated the victim for his injuries, and Wyer was taken into custody at the scene. He now faces the following charges:
- Second-degree assault
- Third-degree menacing
- Criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation
- Fourth-degree criminal mischief
Wyer was held at the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail. He’s slated to appear in court for further proceedings on January 22.
