Anti-ICE rallies held in wake of ICE shootings

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — In light of recent ICE shootings in Minneapolis and Portland, protesters gathered Saturday afternoon across the Capital Region. In Colonie, about 1,000 people lined the intersection of Wolf Road and Central Avenue, calling for ICE to leave local communities.

“This demonstration here today is about ICE. Their unlawful and unconstitutional activity on our streets and their open murder of an American citizen in Minneapolis,” said Leyla Kiosse, the Operational Lead for Indivisible Albany, one of the organizers of Saturday’s rally.

Organizers said the rally was about more than one incident — pointing to what they see as a pattern of enforcement that they want stopped.

“People here in Albany are really upset because ICE has been in our community terrorizing our neighbors. And it’s unacceptable, and we’re not going to stand for it,”

Crowds yelled chants such as “ICE out for good!” and “She was murdered!”…
