Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — Three people were arrested Monday evening following a reported shoplifting incident at a Target store in Amsterdam, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jeffery T. Smith said deputies responded to the store on January 19, 2026, after receiving a report that three suspects pushed a shopping cart filled with merchandise out of the store without paying and fled in a vehicle.
A New York State Police trooper who was responding to assist located the vehicle shortly after. Following a traffic stop, investigators confirmed the occupants matched surveillance footage from the store. All three were taken into custody…
