Child exploitation probe leads police to Waterford weapons cache

WATERFORD — A village man suspected of viewing child sexual abuse images was found with illicitly owned arms during an early January search, according to authorities.

State Police allegedly uncovered several illegally possessed firearms and high-capacity magazines during the Jan. 7 execution of a search warrant at the Waterford residence of Douglas Joseph McCann, 48. Officials seized those items, as well as electronics.

McCann, who was under investigation at the time for allegedly owning child abuse images, surrendered to State Police in Clifton Park on the same day. He surrendered on Wednesday over allegations related to the alleged child exploitation…
