Catskill man arrested in connection with theft of $22K from Delmar resident

DELMAR, N.Y. (WNYT)- Donovan May, 28, from Catskill was arrested in connection with a scam that defrauded a Delmar resident out of more than $22K, according to the Bethlehem Police Department.

Police say the money was taken out of the Delmar residents bank account by way of an elaborate scheme that May was connected to. They say an investigation started after the resident got a phone call from someone claiming to be an employee with the Citizens Bank Fraud Department.

The phony bank employee called the resident, asking about fraudulent debit card charges. Through the conversation, the person posing as a bank employee, was able to get personal and banking information, allowing them access to the residents account, according to police…
