Albany police officer arrested by State Police on felony drug charges

ALBANY — An officer with the Albany Police Department was arrested by State Police on Friday and accused of selling illegal drugs while off-duty.

After an eight-month-long investigation, Albany Police officer Nathan M. Ensel, 45, of Rensselaer and Astoria resident Leocadio J. Espinal, 46, were both arrested on felony drug charges. They were taken into custody after police executed multiple search warrants at locations in Rensselaer and Green counties, according to a news release from State Police.
