All City of Albany Buildings and Facilities Closed Due To Snow

Let the digging out begin! Ahead of what is going to be a very busy Monday after the storm, the Mayor of Albany, Dorcey Applyrs, announced that they would be closing all of the city buildings and facilities. All non-essential workers are to work from home while the Department and General Service works to clear snow around the City. Albany looks like it got hit with 10-11 inches of snow in total depending on what part you are in.

With most of the Capital Region measuring a foot of snow or more, it’s only fitting that that we all need to clean up from this mess. Where I am located in the City of Albany I measured about 9 inches of snow around 8pm on Sunday night. I didn’t measure this morning, but the Albany International Airport reports over 10″ on the ground there.

Yesterday Albany International Airport said that a majority of their flights on Sunday had been cancelled and to anticipate that for some of Monday as the Capital Region, and many other locations around the east coast dig out. We may have gotten hit hard with snow, but other areas south of us got a mix of snow and ice.

How much snow fell?

Other totals from the area, according to WNYT are 14″ in Westerlo, and 11″ in Selkirk…
